[vlc] vlc functioning on ipv6 addresses

Hi all,

i am able to stream files on ipv4 addresses but not on
ipv6 addresses. When i give the command 

vlc -vvv filename.mpg --sout udp://fec0:0:1::4

"ipv6 error:unknown host fec0"

I have also "forced ipv6" in the network options.

Also, the gtk interface shows the the streaming is
going on and in the end i have a bulky file
"fec0:0:1::4" in the same directory. Kindly help. Is
there some problem with the way i am giving the
command and is there something extra i need to do in
the configuration file. Kindly help.
