[vlc] non-smooth playback of DVD (FW DVD) MAC OS X

Hi,

  I've just installed the 0.5.3 version of VLC on my iBook. I added a FW 
box that allowd me to plug my IDE DVD drive (from my PC).

  VLC works OK, but there is some non-smoothness. I think some frames 
are lost. Is it commun with VLC/OS X(with internal or external drive)? 
How can i know the amount of frames that are lost?

  Thanks for your great wrok. At the time, DVD PLayer from apple just 
refused to read the DVDs, and mplayer is almost crashes the machine. 
Only VLC works.
