[vlc] Using SMIL (HTML+TIME)

I'm playing with using HTML+TIME to embed vlc into a Web
page for Internet Explorer, and I can get VLC playing out
of it, but I can't control begin and end times.

1) Anyone have an idea how this might be done?
2) Is there a better way? (aside from using Mozilla plug-ins).
