[vlc] Record with VLC

Hi, I'm trying to record with VLC bye comman line:

vlc udp:@IP:PORT --sout D:\filename

It generates a file (I think mpeg, cause the stream is mpeg2....) that I can open with VLC but it's impossible to open the same file with another software (wmplayer 9, winamp, premiere....).

I should edit that file, and in particular cut it. Have you any suggestion?

I've tried also 

vlc udp:@IP:PORT --sout-vcodec mpeg2 --sout-acodec mpeg2 --sout D:\filename

but it doesn't work. It generates a 0 byte file.

I use VLC 0.5.1 on WINXP,
