I tried to set up the Multicast yesterday using vlc as server,
and the Quickstart is missing the Linux
routing info I had in the original Quickstart,
basically:
Compile Multicast into Linux kernel
[root at rfasuc38 vlc-0.5.1]# route add -net 224.0.0.0 netmask 240.0.0.0
dev eth0
[root at rfasuc38 vlc-0.5.1]# echo 1 > /proc/sys/net/ipv4/ip_forward
to be able to access the multicast stream from a neighboring Windows box.
(Not exactly sure how to get the Windows box serving properly,
it's 2000 Pro, not Server, so not sure it's possible...?)
