Yes I think so, since I can use VLC on linux without problems on the same
machine.

I'm very sorry, but I can't do this in public. I am sure that the address is
right, since many people I know are using it...only my machine seems to have
this behaviour!
The strange thing is that I use many other net-based apps (web browsing,
peer2peer, irc, netmeeting...) without any problem
