The name  of the  MPEG4 codev  is mp4v.  In order  to transcode  in mp3,
you  need  to  have  lame  on the  computer,  compile  ffmpeg  with  the
--enable-mp3lame option, and vlc with the --with-ffmpeg-mp3lame option
