In the open  file dialog box (the  real one, not the  quick open), there
should be a subtitles chackbox, and a button allowing to open a subtitle
selection dialog box.

It the subtitle has  the same name than the movie  (except the srt), and
is in the  same directory, vlc should add it  automatically. The, select
the subtitle track in the video menu.
