Ok, I have access to a few satellites at work, at least Astra, Thor and
Hotbird as well as cable and terrestrial stuff. The latter two aren't
really useful as we don't share any common channels.

I could meanwhile install a DVB-c card and see how that works. I anyway
need to create a few kernels for the different DVB cards.

No, I have a lot to do, so I'll just suspend the "media engine" evaluation
for a while. Videolan still seems to be one of the strongest applications
in this field, so it's probably worth waiting a while. :)
