You only need a recent ffmpeg CVS version from http://ffmpeg.sourceforge.net

According to the logfile you don't have a stable network connection, 
because reading from it gives no "Resource temporarily unavailable". 
Test first if the connection is alive, eg: using "ping <some machine ip>"

And malformed packets. I say the network is not configured right and the 
bandwidth occupied by the TS stream is too large for you network. Use a 
smaller bitrate video ~1 Mbps with a screen size of 240x192 pixels.

BTW it looks like you have 2 VLC's running at the sametime. Check this 
with "ps ax" on the iPAQ. Then do a "killall vlc" and retry.
