[vlc] Not playing G.726 ..mac x

Hi all,
 
We are using vlc on  os x for playing ASF file. This ASF format consists
of MPEG 4 (video) and G.726 (audio). Vlc  os x is playing video of my
file but not the audio . 
 
My question is " does vlc  support G.726 codec ?" If not , can I
integrate any G.726 codec with the source code of vlc ? 
 
I have tried the latest version of vlc also . it says in the player
features that it supports G.726 but at the same time it gives the error
that " Vlc does not support g.726 " 
 
Pls suggest ..
