hopefully you can get it resolved.
all my VCDs play fine on my standalone
as well as in VLC 0.72.

Perhaps if you try VLC 0.61 on the mac?
I have read on videohelp.com that some users
have better luck with SVCDS in it than in 0.71 or 0.72.

I have a copy of 0.61 if you need me to email it to you direct.
