Well, as you can see, VLC support vobsubs, but in a very basic way. That
means  that we  currently  cannot  resize subtitles  on  the  fly. As  a
consequence, if the video has  been rescaled when transcoding, subtitles
appear totally messed up, or even not at all.

AFAIK,  there are  even  disabled by  default. To  enable  this kind  of
subtitles, you  have to go to  the preferences of the  subtitles decoder
module, and select vobsub by hand...
