[vlc] vlc 0.8.0 windows build problem

hi, what am i doing wrong?  i had no problems building 0.7.2 with its contrib-20040510-win32-bin file, but when i build 0.8.0 (using cygwin) with the current contrib-20040902-win32-bin file, (still using gcc 3.3.1 and 2003 mingw tools), i get a weird result.  VLC seems to run fine but the debug interface=logger window does not open.  

i would cross compile on linux, but the systems i have access to are not up to date w.r.t. libc6.  so, why would the logger window not open now?

if i open the VLC.exe from the 0.8.0 release, it works fine.
