[vlc] Using third-party MPEG decoders with vlc

Can I use a third-party MPEG decoder to play DVDs and HDTV files
using vlc? This is for a Windows XP box.

I want to try a couple of commercial HDTV decoders that include
DxVA (Directx Video Acceleration) support and claim to improve
playback for DVDs. I am guessing that the same features could
also help in playing back HDTV files.

I found three decoders - Intervideo DCD Xpack, Sonic CinePlayer
DVD Decoder Pack and CyberLink's PowerDVD - and all three say that
they can be used with Windows Media Player.

I would like to try to use the same decoders with vlc.

So I can use these decoders with vlc? And since they all cost
the same so I would like to know if any one is better than
the others, especially for vlc.

Thanks,
Harshal
