[vlc] VLC and recent Mac DVD drives

Hi there -

I have just joined the list - VLC is great software, and it is a real 
service to the community.

Apologies if this has been addressed before. I have read the related 
FAQ and web postings - as of June, we learnt that VLC cannot bypass 
the recent DVD configurations in Macs (as from late 2003, or 
thereabouts?).

This makes VLC for Mac of reducing value as people upgrade to the 
newer machines. Given that videolan are doing all this for nothing - 
at least, the users aren't paying - one can hardly complain. 
However, it would be nice to know if the next version of VLC for Mac 
will solve this problem, and, if so, when we might expect it.

Finally, my thanks to all of those involved in developing this 
software - it's great work!!
