I just use vcodec=h264, and it works. h264 ia pretty CPU-intensive -- try
using --sout-transcode-fps=a_reasonably _small_number, and/or limit the
video size. (if you try to shovel 640x480 30 fps, you'll get to watch your
CPU peg, nothing come out)

Subject: [vlc] Transcoding to H264

Hello all,

I built the latest CSV with the x264 trunk and all went well. I was hoping
when I was finished I could do a "-sout '#transcode{vcodec=x264......." But
no matter what name I put in there for the codec, it doesn't work. I have
tried, x264, h264, etc. I have also heard that Mencoder is the preferred
encoder for H264 but not having really any experience with mplayer, I have
not gone that direction. Are there any "howto"s for the x264
implementation?

Thanks,

Mike
