[vlc] calling vlc from command line

hi all,
i am using vlc from command line under windows.
when i call vlc with arugments ( with interface 
dummy , -I dummy) a new DOS window
is opening up and the parents gets terminated.
I would like vlc to run in the same window in which
it is getting called. Does someone know the switch
i should use to do that ?. thanks in advance.
