Faizal,

Peter's reply has a lot of great points. Go through
his check-list and confirm that there is no one else
using the same channel.

I can only add a couple of points:

- Have you tried unicasting the same stream with the
same data-rate setting? Does the quality change
compared to the multicast scenario?

As Peter said, the actual application-level throught
is about 50-60% of the over-the-air rate. You may have
to try the multicast at 11Mbps if your stream is at
4Mbps or higher.

- Check the recd data-rate on the client for the
multicast streams. Most WLAN card have some utility
that will display the number of packets recd, the
rate etc. Make sure that the client is actually
receiving the data at the rate.

If you can afford to upgrade the WLAN network to
an 802.11g or an 802.11a network, that might help
considerably. However, you should be able to stream
a DVD-quality (~5-6Mbps) video over an 802.11b
network if there is no interference.

Regards,
- Harshal
