[vlc] MP4 transcoding

I have been trying to transcode some DVDs to Mpeg4 in an MP4 container
but the audio seams to playable only by VLC. If I use VLC 0.7.2 the
audio of the video file can be heard on say Quick Time, but if I do the
same process on VLC 0.8.2 the audio will not play. Of course it always
plays on VLC. Any pointers as to what I'm doing wrong?
