You are correct. At home we only use the http interface but obviously

True. I thought about this. But I don't know all the places in the 
source where the playlist is updated.
Do you know this? Perhaps all the places where intf-change is touched?

The 0.8.4 version just does a periodic refresh. Not very nice. The 0.8.5 
ajax version is much too slow for me
(I have >1400 items in my playlist) but I think it essentially does a 
periodic refresh too.
