dependent on the used deinterlacing new pixel artefacts appear in the image - if not the entire image is pixly but only some areas this is the result of deinterlacing I would think...

Subject: [vlc] framebuffer output, scale and filter chains

I use vlc on the command line with standard definition MPEG2 video scaled to a framebuffer output which is 1280x768.
I'm wondering if anyone can suggest a way to start vlc to smooth the scaled video output.
The deinterlace filter works does make the interlace jaggedness disappear but the output is pixly.

I have searched the internet and looked at the code but don't seem to find anything.
