What error message(s) are appearing in the log Window? Under Windows, the
WxWindows interface, you would start vlc, then do a View -- Messages before
opening a file.
You don't need to let it play long, just a handful of seconds, then Stop.
There might be a message, error, about not having a CODEC matching XYZ, or
perhaps a LOT of messages about timing.
DO you have a sample file, something that isn't too huge?
