[vlc] Solaris VLC can't play mpeg4

Well now i tried to run a mpeg4 file.  this is what I'm getting:

# ./vlc JorgeRocca.mp4
VLC media player 0.8.4a Janus
X Error of failed request:  BadDrawable (invalid Pixmap or Window parameter)
   Major opcode of failed request:  14 (X_GetGeometry)
   Resource id in failed request:  0x4000ab
   Serial number of failed request:  5483
   Current serial number in output stream:  5483


Any help where to start debugging this?  Is this in VLC or ffmpeg library?
