[vlc] Re: vlc to render preview images?

The problem now is, that it wants an XServer which i dont run.

$ vlc -V image ../PEPiTO.mov
vlc: /usr/lib/libtheora.so.0: no version information available (required 
by vlc)
VLC media player 0.8.5-test3 Janus
Error: Unable to initialize gtk, is DISPLAY set properly?
$

so how can i turn of the gui?
