Basically reading the source code is a good idea (as xtophe suggested).

You should first try reading the share/http/requests/readme file. It
should list all the available commands (i'm not aware of new ones being
added since). (this is only intersting if you directly want to query the
requests/*.xml files)

If you just want to use javascript functions, there is no doc that i
know of. All basic player functions are in share/http/js/functions.js .
VLM stuff is in vlm.js and mosaic wizard specific stuff is in mosaic.js
.
