Hello,
We are a Free-Software team that develop VLC.
VLC is a free and open-source player and VideoLAN team does not make
money nor claims to offer any service around VLC.
However, we are not hiding, since you can find on the main websites :
http://www.videolan.org, http://www.videolan.org/vlc/,
http://wiki.videolan.org, http://forum.videolan.org/,
http://www.videolan.org/team/, etc... the way to contact us.

Do as you want. However a lot of users are using VLC and are very
pleased about it. A lot of references on the net speak of VLC and a lot
in very very good terms.

Once again, we don't claim anything. The program is provided as is.
A lot of people (more than 20 millions, as a matter of facts) have used
and have been able to use this software.
So I just see two different solutions: you have downloaded a wrong
version of VLC, paid for it or been abused by someone who gave you not a
malware version. This would be very problematic, and please say so.
The other solution is that all the people who are using VLC everyday are
wrong and not able to read medias files with VLC, but they don't
complain.

We are a team of people who do this software on our free time, for many
of us. However, there is a whole documentation on the main website,
which is in English for you : http://www.videolan.org/doc/
If you are not able to browse the website, this is not my problem.
Moreover, there are people answering on the forums everyday, and there
is a wiki full of instructions.

Once again, we did not trade anything, nor sale, no claim whatever you
say. But, as you can see in the stats, millions of people are using VLC.
Would they do this for a " non-functional program" ?
Thanks,
