[vlc] Question about playlist navigation

I am trying to set up a vlc skin that would be super simple, I have a
next and a previous button, as well as volume and mute, this is
working great(i am switching between different multicast streams)
what i would like to set up shortcut buttons on the interface so for
example it would be *NBC* and that would go to the 3rd item in the
playlist. Click the MSNBC button would get it to the 2nd item in the
list, etc, etc.  Is there any way to do this?
