Hello,

Thought I'd try my hand at VLC hacking, so I thought I'd start off by just
trying to compile it.

Started off trying to compile it on my Linux laptop. But it has an old
version of Fedora... and VLC needs newer tools versions than what that
computer has... so I decided to try it on my laptop with MS Windows on it.
(Need something to test site in IE on. But anways....)

I downloaded Cygwin, and installed a whole bunch of stuff (that ./configure
complained about) but I eventually came to a problem.

Here's the last 5 lines from ./configure...

checking whether NLS is requested... yes
checking whether included gettext is requested... no
checking for GNU gettext in libc... no
checking for GNU gettext in libintl... no
configure: error: libiconv is needed for VLC to work properly

The thing is, libiconv seems to be there. (It's in the /lib folder.)

Is this a problem someone else has seen before? Anyone have any
suggestions?

See ya
