[vlc] Capturing messages output

I'm using VLC with a VLM script and the telnet interface (e.g. headless),
and it dies every once and awhile.  I'm having issues duplicating the
problem, but sure enough it will happen 1 time out of 5.

Is there a way to send the messages output window to a text file or
something?
