NOTE: If this is a duplicate post, my apologies. Waited for the first post
with attached .png images to come through but it never did. Going to assume
these lists don't allow attachments, hyperlinked to my website in this post.
Never seen the extension before. By the size, I thought it might have been a
quicktime link file renamed, but it is not. I was able to open it in
Quicktime on my MacBook Pro, and it seems to be an 'Apple GIF'. I didn't
know Apple had a proprietary gif format, nor was I able to find any info
about it via a quick google search. From the content of the image, I would
guess that that website was using this image as a picture hyperlink to the
actual video. Attached are screenshots of the gif and the media info
quicktime gave:

Subject: [vlc] question about media file
Hi all,
I recently subscribed to a website that provides instructional videos in
quicktime format, suposedly h.264 encoded. I have a sample file and I am
not sure exactly what it is especially since the file size is awefully
small.
You may find the file here:
http://tvcentric.com/notes/media/file-980524969.quicktime
Is this some sort of metafile? They say you need QT7 to view the videos so
I thought that was no biggie since VLC should have no problems. ;) They
provided a sample "technique of the week" which I could play but that
actually resembles a video file -

Can anyone tell me about the sample stream? It is named as ".quicktime",
not ".mov". I'd like to collect some facts before I confuse their support
people. :)
Thanks,
-Rob
