[vlc] Re: 0.9.0 snapshot doesn't support certain formats

  I can play wmv and mov under windows but do not have samples of the others to test to tell you what is possible.

encoded with xvid):

"No suitable decoder module for format:
VLC probably does not support the "XVID" audio or video format.
Unfortunately there is no way for you to fix this."

For ffmpeg, I have installed these packages (compiled them from source
then packaged them):

xvidcore-1.1.2-i386-1.tgz

configure flags for ffmpeg:

For vlc, I have installed these packages (the same way):

--enable-taglib --enable-cddax --enable-vcdx --enable-dvb --enable-flac
--enable-theora --enable-x264 --enable-mad --enable-ffmpeg --enable-a52
--enable-dca


Other packages that affect the functionality of vlc:

flac-aotuv-1.1.4-i386-4.tgz
libvorbis-aotuv-b5_20061024-i386-4.tgz
vorbis-tools-aotuv-1.1.1-i386-4.tgz

The aotuv suffix means that they are compiled against the aoyumi
patched libvorbis (aotuv).

Some more:

id3lib-3.8.3-i386-1.tgz
libmp4v2-1.5.0.1-i386-1.tgz
wavpack-4.40.0-i386-1.tgz

These there are installed for easytag anyway.
