[vlc] 0.9.0 snapshot doesn't support certain formats

Hi,

I have compiled both 0.8.6b and (several) 0.9.0 snapshot(s) in the same
environment. While 0.8.6b plays any of my multimedia files (with 2
exceptions - mentioned in another post coz I intend this one for
general support of formats not single files), 0.9.0 does not.

My system is slackware-current.

0.9.0 snapshot won't play divx (DX50, but maybe others too), xvid
(XVID), wmv (WMV3, but maybe others too) and wma (wma2 and maybe
others). It shows the following error (in this example with an avi
encoded with xvid):

"No suitable decoder module for format:
VLC probably does not support the "XVID" audio or video format.
Unfortunately there is no way for you to fix this."

For ffmpeg, I have installed these packages (compiled them from source
then packaged them):

a52dec-0.7.4-i386-1.tgz
lame-3.97-i386-1.tgz
libdts-0.0.2-i386-1.tgz
x264-20070504-i386-1.tgz
xvidcore-1.1.2-i386-1.tgz

configure flags for ffmpeg:

TMPDIR=../tmp ./configure --enable-liba52 --enable-libdts
--enable-libmp3lame --enable-libogg --enable-libvorbis --enable-xvid
--enable-gpl --enable-libtheora --enable-x264 --enable-pp
--enable-shared

For vlc, I have installed these packages (the same way):

ffmpeg-20070506-i386-1.tgz (mentioned above)
libcddb-1.3.0-i386-1.tgz
libcdio-0.78.2-i386-1.tgz
libdca-20070506-i386-1.tgz
libdvbpsi4-0.1.5-i386-1.tgz
libdvdcss-20070506-i386-1.tgz
libdvdnav-0.1.10-i386-1.tgz
libdvdread-0.9.7-i386-2.tgz
libmodplug-0.8-i386-1.tgz
libmpcdec-1.2.6-i386-1.tgz
libquicktime-1.0.0-i386-1.tgz
mpeg2dec-0.4.1-i386-1.tgz
vcdimager-0.7.23-i386-1.tgz

configure flags for vlc snapshot:

./configure --disable-skins2 --disable-wxwidgets --enable-qt4
--enable-mozilla --enable-real --enable-v4l2 --enable-dvdread
--enable-taglib --enable-cddax --enable-vcdx --enable-dvb --enable-flac
--enable-theora --enable-x264 --enable-mad --enable-ffmpeg --enable-a52
--enable-dca

Other packages that affect the functionality of vlc:

flac-aotuv-1.1.4-i386-4.tgz
libvorbis-aotuv-b5_20061024-i386-4.tgz
vorbis-tools-aotuv-1.1.1-i386-4.tgz

The aotuv suffix means that they are compiled against the aoyumi
patched libvorbis (aotuv).

Some more:

id3lib-3.8.3-i386-1.tgz
libmp4v2-1.5.0.1-i386-1.tgz
wavpack-4.40.0-i386-1.tgz

These there are installed for easytag anyway.

Berke Viktor
