[vlc] when vlc uses ffmpeg

Hi all.
At present I'm studying how vlc player works. I'm learning simply by 
debugging it with gdb, guided by vlc's source code and comments.
Know, that vlc uses ffmpeg's libav* functions to decode, but just can't 
find pieces of code which are interacting with ffmpeg's code. Can 
anybody point me to vlc's code where calls to ffmpeg functions occur,
or simply advice where should i put breakpoint to step through decoding 
process in gdb ?
