[vlc] Video stalls, audio keeps working - example test file available

Hi,
I'm playing an RTP AV stream mostly ok, but randomly & quite often the video
freezes, the console shows messages like 'more than 5 seconds of late video
--> dropping frame (computer too slow?)' but the audio plays on ok. Rather
than droping a frame or so, the video just stops at the last displayed image
before the messages start.

The CPU load is under 30%, so its not too slow. This is with an older 0.9.0
on either Gentoo or Fedora Core (I cant get the current version to run -
ffmpeg_plugin.so undefined symbol - library incompatiblities?). The vlc
Windows client (0.8.6a) is fine for days and days on WinXP, at the same time
that vlc on Linux freezes, so I think that the stream is ok (assumptions
bad?).

I have a 10-minute RTP clip recorded which after 8-minutes the video always
freezes, but the audio continues to play. I used WireShark to capture the
clip and use tcpreplay to replay the clip. I don't think I can easily make
the actual video streaming server publicly available, and it can take
anything from 5 minutes to 48 hours to freeze in this way, so its hard to
reproduce reliably, so this clip should be better to reporduce this bug. I
can e-mail or FTP but its 434MB compressed.

Any help, clues, hits or tips greatfully recieved,
Aaron
