[vlc] Ubuntu Feisty Fawn repository unavailable

Hi! I may well post to the wrong location, sorry for the inconvenient.

It seems the Ubuntu repository is broken, in that it lacks a Packages.gz
itemizing the available packages within the repository. When updating
the packages list with the repositories list (/etc/apt/sources.list),

apt-get complains:
Err http://nightlies.videolan.org ./ Packages

  404 Not Found

Synaptic complains:
http://nightlies.videolan.org/build/feisty-i386/arch/./Packages.gz: 404
Not Found
