[vlc] VLC isn't working on my Mac with new download

I updated VLC to the latest version of VLC on my Mac OS 10.3.9. I think 
I used to have the "a" version, which worked OK, a little choppy at 
times. Now I downloaded the "f" version. It crashes when I try to see a 
video. I deleted the preferences as suggested.
