[vlc] How to play the RAW file type - there is no such file type, nor any files at all ; -)

Launch VLC and try menu File | Open Disc rather than File | Open File that  
you try to do - will that show movie ?
If not - open Log Window (i can't remember in which menu group it is, but  
you would find it easily), try to open Disc again and look into log - what  
errors will there be ?

What Operating System is there on Your computer ?
In case of Windows, what format of DVD wil show ISO Buster tool ?

Is your DVD encumbered with Zone codes  
(http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/DVD_Region_code) ? Do You have some DVD's  
not bocked with Digital Restrictions Management like Zones ? Can You see  
files in those discs and pay them ?

Maybe You should block Your DVD reader AND Operating System AND video  
player to the same Zone as DVD disc is. Or use some deblocking tool like  
AnyDVD or deblocked RPC-1 firmware (that maybe dangerous to Your DVD if  
You don't understand what you're doing)?

What is your standalone DVD player ? Is it blocked to the DVD Zone, same  
to the disc ?
Or is it deblocked to play any of Your DVD discks with no respect to DRM's  
?
Try to find it in manual to player or ask player's vendor.

hands :-)

I think the shop, that sold you this disc, must know it and must tell it  
to You - if they are not selling defective goods on caveat emptor  
principle.
