[vlc] White flash when vout is opened

Hi,

I am using the VLC Mozilla plugin to display video content in a browser window.
Several different clips of varying sizes are played consecutively. Between
these clips, there is a very noticeable white flash on the VLC plugin area. I
understand this to be a consequence of the closing and subsequent reopening of
the video output.

I at first believed that this was specific to the VLC Mozilla plugin, however, I
believe that this effect can be seen when a clip is played in the wxvlc
interface, as well.

Is there any way to make this flash go away, or at least change the color of the
flash to black?

I'm using Linux (Ubuntu Feisty) and VLC 0.8.6d.
