G'day Neil,

Automatic fall-back to RTP-over-TCP is actually in the VLC code (with 
a 10 second timeout), so I'm surprised it does not work for you.

Can you post a (publically accessible) "rtsp://" URL of a stream that 
illustrates the problem that you are seeing?
