[vlc] audio is not working

I have MS Window XP operating system and I recently downloaded the VLC 0.8.6 player on my computer. I tried to play a dvd from a different region(I live in canada & the dvd was from south korea) on the player but there was no audio when I played the movie. I tried everything to get it to play but it does not work.
