[vlc] 0.9.1 Compilation problems on RHEL5

I am trying to compile VLC 0.9.1 on the same x86 system I compiled numerous
version of VLC 0.8 without problems.

During configure I am getting
"No package 'fribidi' found"
even if "rpm -qa" returns "fribidi-0.10.7-5.1"
and the libraries are indeed in /usr/lib:
/usr/lib/libfribidi.so.0
/usr/lib/libfribidi.so.0.0.0

Even if I define "FRIBIDI_LIBS=/usr/lib" for configure, it still gives me
the same error.

Any ideas?
