OK.

I ditched the SUN Java plugin, switched to 64-bit Firefox 3.0.1 and
installed the OpenJDK plugin. I correctly see it in about:plugins and the
java.com test properly identifies it. So far so good.
However, Firefox still does not see the VLC plugin, now both 64-bit
versions (Firefox and plugin).
The plugin has been compiled from source.

What the heck is going on?

Any ideas no matter how far fetched would be appreciated.

Thanks
Frank
