[vlc] AC3 - Dolby AC3 problem

hi,
I produce xvid movies from mp4 (h.264 video) (AAC LC audio) by using Pazera
Free MP4 to AVI
Converter<http://www.pazera-software.com/products/mp4-to-avi-converter/>
it is ok if I use MP3-MPEG-1 Layer 3 - LAME 3.97 as an audio codec
but if I prefer *AC3 - Dolby AC3* as an audio codec vlc can not decode audio
and video plays without sound.
by the way I have no ac3 problem with my home theater sony dav-dz830
how can we solve this problem?
