[vlc] removing pop-ups

Hello,

I recently installed VideoLAN. Ever since this installation, I have been receiving endless and very annoying pop-up windows advertising undesirable products and web sites. 

VideoLAN is otherwise working very well for me, but could you please tell me how to cancel these repeated pop-up windows that would seem to be related to the VideoLAN installation?
