[vlc] Update Error

Dear Sirs,

I recently installed verion 0.9.8a on Vista Ultimate.  

I have not used it much yet, but have noticed a small problem.

When  I click "Check for Updates", I receive following error message: "An error occurred while checking for updates".

I uninstalled and reinstalled your program twice but continue to receive this error.

What could the problem be?

Please advise.
