[vlc] Problem with VLM in 0.9.8a on Mac platform

I am attempting to use VLM on the Mac platform  with VLC 0.9.8a.

Here is the statup command:

/Applications/VLC.app/Contents/MacOS/VLC -I http

It looks like the VLM module is not working correctly.  This VLM code 
used to work correctly before the 0.9.x versions.  Am I missing some VLM 
changes?
