[vlc] Bug?

Hello,

Running a single processor G4 mac with OS 10.3.9 No special add ons re audio.

Have used 0.8.6i for years.

Had a prob and deleted it.

Reinstalled it (three times now).

Also reinstalled QT 7.5

App opens.

As soon as I start playing .avi, or .mpeg, it hesitates, I get two seconds of audio, then the app crashes.

Realplayer works on its .rm files.
WMP works on wma files.

I have read the forums and see some other ppl have the same probs, without a resolution.

I have deleted VLC prefs and VLC lib folder as described to no avail.
Any tips?
