[vlc] Converting or Saving errors

I am trying to save or convert a file that is created from a spy pen dvr
(avi) and I am getting encoder errors (see screen print).  Can you assist me
with a solution?

 

Streaming / Transcoding failed:

VLC could not open the encoder.

Streaming / Transcoding failed:

VLC could not open the encoder.

Streaming / Transcoding failed:

VLC could not open the encoder.

 

I am getting this error on multiple export formats (MPG-1, MPG4, MOV, etc..)
