[vlc] breaks or cracking of sound

Here you have this wonderful program
   only in all the years I have tried to use it
  I cannot get it to not make cracking or breaking up of the
sound. As I love music, this is difficutl.

  I use Windows XP on a reasonably powerful Gateway machine - more than
enough.
 I do not have this porblem with Media Player Classic, or Windows Media
Player, Moyea,
 Cyberlink,  or any other program I have tried.
   How can I fix this problem in your program? What is causing it.
